What is PM Suryaghar Yojana?

PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a central government scheme launched to install rooftop solar panels on 1 crore households across India. Under this scheme, eligible homeowners receive a direct subsidy of up to ₹78,000 credited directly to their bank account after installation. The scheme also enables net metering — meaning excess electricity generated by your solar panels is fed back to the grid, and you earn credits on your electricity bill.

Who Can Apply

Eligibility Criteria

Indian citizen with a residential property

Valid electricity connection in your name

Rooftop area of at least 60 sq. ft. (for 1 KW)

No previous solar subsidy availed on the same property

Property should not be a rented or government-allotted house

Valid Aadhaar and bank account linked to electricity connection

We register your application on the official pmsuryaghar.gov.in portal using your Aadhaar, electricity bill, and bank details.

DISCOM Approval

Your local electricity distribution company (DISCOM) reviews and approves the application — typically within 7–15 working days.

Solar System Installation

Our certified engineers install the solar panels, inverter, and mounting structure at your home within 3–5 working days.

Net Meter Installation

DISCOM installs a net meter to measure electricity exported to the grid. This enables bill credits for excess generation.

Subsidy Credited to Bank

After inspection and net meter installation, the subsidy amount is directly credited to your registered bank account within 30–60 days.
